One of the biggest shifts I made in my health was cutting back the sugar I was consuming. It was keeping my body inflamed, led to crashes throughout the day, and definitely was not helping me lose weight. The process of eliminating sugar was definitely not a fun one; it was slow and grueling. After all, sugar is being found to be more addictive than cocaine… Once I booted the conventional sweets, I started making smoothies to satisfy that sweet tooth. Not only are the natural sweeteners better for my health, I can also put tons of powerful foods in them. Today, I’ll share with you exactly what I put in my morning superfood smoothiebest

Smoothies make good choices easier

We all know how hard it is to get someone else to make healthier choices – maybe it’s hard for you too! But don’t worry, smoothies can make your problems disappear… well, sort of.

What I love about smoothies is that if there is a supplement, medicine(natural medicine), or food that I don’t particularly enjoy, I can throw it in a smoothie and cover up the taste.

It’s one of the best ways to sneak in all of the good stuff that you otherwise would have resistance to consuming. If health is something you’ve struggled with, try making a morning superfood smoothie to start the day off right!

One good choice often leads to more.

My morning superfood smoothie

My morning smoothies have evolved over the years, but here’s what I’ve found to enjoy the most.

The base:

Blueberries and Cherries

These two low-glycemic berries keep the blood-sugar in check and are so delicious. Sometimes, I’ll swap strawberries for the cherries if they are in season and local. (about 1/2 – 1 cup)

Unsweetened almond milk

Instead of dairy products (which often contain antibiotics and growth hormones), I opt for almond or cashew milk. (around 1/2 cup)

Superfoods

Now come’s my favorite! The superfoods that give your smoothie that extra immune boost:

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha has been used for thousands of years to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and improve concentration. It also helps to slow the growth of cancer cells and has huge benefits for men’s health stimulating the alpha male mindset.

I trust and use this brand.

Chia seeds

Chia seeds are among the healthiest foods on the planet. They have very few calories but deliver so many nutrients, antioxidants, fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Chlorella

Chlorella is a nutrient dense algae that tremendously helps remove toxins from the body. It’s perfect for smoothies because by itself, it’s not too appealing. Just thinking about it made me remember the smell… shudder…

Max Greens

Max greens is a supplement powder from Max Living. It combines green superfoods like organic wheat grass, chlorella, reishi and maitake mushrooms and chocolate to pack a delicious and powerful punch.

Collagen Peptides

I get my collagen and protein from Vital Proteins; they are the cleanest, highest quality brand out there (made from grass-fed, organic, pasture-raised cattle). You can find them on Amazon, but if you go to Costco you can get the 24 ounce for $25.

Organic Turmeric

Turmeric is the best superfood out there, no questions about it. It is packed full of immune, cognitive, and energy benefits. If you ever need immune support turmeric is the superfood for you.

Top it off

There’s just a few more things that I add to my morning superfood smoothie to really make it stand out and taste delicious!

Trace minerals

We need trace minerals to help our body perform at it’s best. They help catalyze vitamins and nutrients and assist in numerous bodily functions. Unfortunately, the average person doesn’t consume nearly any through their diet. Supplementing is often the only way to meet your trace mineral needs.

I recommend this brand.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil adds good fat and consistency to the smoothie. Even though it has been portrayed poorly in the media but it has so many health benefits!

Almond/cashew/walnut butter

The last ingredient is a nut butter! It adds some great flavor and great fats to the mix.

Here’s the the almond butter I use.

Wrap-Up

Don’t just copy my smoothie, make your own! Find what you like and what works for you; use my ideas as a starting point. I hope you enjoy. If you need help detoxing from sugar, check out my free 7 day sugar detox course.
